Often, i got wonder what really defines us and what usually makes us as a good teamplayer in a particular team. So, as i was designing the steel member for the structure assignment i began to have a look on my past and present form being in a particular team.

In the past, I often behave in a rigid way and want things to get done on the spot itself. Since first year I had entered a few university proggrammes and almost had met all kind of people with different persona and attitude. Believe it or not, i'm still discovering peoples with weird attitude and persona. So, along the path i've learned to be more  vigilant when it comes to a teamwork and do not tense up in all matter.I've learned to approach people in the way they are.Yet still i can find some who doesn't really care whatever happening in the team.

Talking about being a good teamplayer or leader, I came across a guy who taught me a bit about managing a team. Now let me explain about him first. He is the owner of a designing company whom i met in our toastmasters club meeting. One day we went for a treasure hunt organised by the club and luckily both of us was in the same team. Thus, the whole team appointed me as a leader for that activity and yikes!!! i began to manage all my teammates. At the end of the treasure hunt, he ( the guy i mentioned earlier ) asked me  something while eating together...:-

the guy : so Guna ...how do you feel from today's activities?
me : umm...yeah it was fantastic and i enjoyed it a lot.
the guy : hmm is it...that's all? i hope you to gain more than that. You see ha...
did you ever realised how was our team fucntioned in terms of
team members and their cooperation in finishing up the activity together?

That's the moment i became to realise how people especially great leaders evaluate others.I was completely astonished with his question.

                 me : ermmm....what i've learned...let me think first...
the guy: haiyya no need to think all dis...you see based on our activity today you
should have realised that it's too hard to get all the members to be focussed.
That's the kind of observation that i expect you should have done and
should also think how to make them focussed.

His words were like a wake up call for me and it prompt me to observe anything calmly and think the solutions for it in case there is a problem.Another instance that i began to realise on how to become a good teamplayer or leader is through my experience itself.I've realised that "PATIENCE" is the most important thing in being a good leader, teamplayer, listener or whatever it is.Sometimes i will cross some jerks,or most of the times i'll will face any unexpected problems. All these things will make us to burst and break the silence simply by shouting at all.But when the instance we are calm and patient enough,we will have some solutions to the problems without causing any emotional damage to others.

I came across a principle called 90/10 principle stated by someone in an e-mail message. It was a really superb principle where it tells that we have only got the ability to control 10% of what we are doing. The rest 90% is just happens by itself. And that 90% is actually is a counter reactive action from what we had done on the 10% previously.Simply saying...it says think before indulge in everything. For this case, think before making a decision in a team as a leader or team member.

Now all these things had made me to be a better person in terms of leadership and being in a team as a member who can really cooperate well.Yet, i'm still discovering new things on my quest of learning to be a good teamplayer and leader.

Let's have a walk to outer space this time :)

AnDrOmeDa galaxy

Well this is the newest found Andromeda galaxy (a.k.a messier 31 or M31) .It was captured through NASA's Wide-field Infared Survey Explorer (WISE) by using it's all four infrared detectors. The blue colour shows mature stars while the red and yellow shows heated dust by the newborn stars.

           Quick facts :-
  1. Is the closest galaxy to Milky Way galaxy (another galaxy in the local group)
  2. Located 2.5 million light years from the sun
  3. The close distance enables telescopes to gather or spy any details about it
  4. It has two natural satellites

MiLky wAy galaxy

          Quick facts :-
  1. Is much smaller than Andromeda and has less stars
  2. Is thought to have higher mass due to a mysterious substance called the dark matter

Both galaxies belongs to our so called local groups which consists 50 galaxies. Most of these galaxies are tiny dwarf systems.WISE will capture the entire local group in it's quest to capture the whole sky.

Well this year's CNY celebration was as usual.Just went loiter with some old classmates and rest at home enjoying all the CNY cookies and most importantly the lemon.Yet, CNY celebrations in my village were not happening as it was previously.
I could remember those days during CNY time my village would be like as if there is a festival. But now all things are happening upside down.Erm i don't know how to describe it but still it seems it was not like those days.
And another thing that i could barely remember for CNY is the blasting of firecrackers. There would be a massive amount of firecrackers being played and the blasting sound won't let you sleep at nights. But now there were no more ear tearing cheap firecrackers being played around. All the people went another step ahead and they use to play really 'classy' firecrackers. Each set could fetch about RM500 to Rm1k depends on it's size.I'm really don't know the price since this information was perceived from a friend of mine.
Now all the people play firecrackers as like a night show between family members. And each time i could see really colorful firecrackers blasting a few meters up from the ground with heavy low-pitch sound. These firecrackers were really awesome and at times i would feel to buy them if i have enough money. What's really eye-catching is you can stand outside of your house and just watch these firecrackers for a few minutes just for the sake of entertainment. And as soon as one guy finished firing up a set of firecracker, another one will counteract by firing another set as if it's like a firecrackers competition.
So while mentioning about these firecrackers,I'm able to capture a nice video on my mobile.Have a look on it...;)

Balik kampung rush had started and all started to leave for their respective hometowns as early Friday evening itself.I was also was rushing back home at the afternoon under the burning sun all the way to Cameron.
Along the pathway (in north-south expressway), i could see several tow trucks already prowling on the road and some hidden "police watch tents" to nab and give the tickets to some so called formula1 drivers. All the way could manage to see all the high profile cars on the fast lane passing like a flash.
What bothers me this time was the drivers on the fast lane.I could see that most of them was women drivers.I've been watching this phenomena for quite sometime and this time it was proven again.I could barely see a woman driving on the left lane. And at the sametime could barely watch any man driving on the fast lane.I'm sure that all were going on a high speed and began to wonder what happen to so called ops sikap?Imagine i saw a woman who could not bear the slow moving car infront at the fast lane and she started to weave between lanes. It seems the trend is now changing with more woman getting the adrenaline rush quite higher than the man's....hehe..;)

It was Thursday and everybody was in the mood of so called Chinese New Year break...I was too lazy to wake up for the morning class, but it was STEEL and TIMBER design and DR Razip would come to teach the connections part.I was forcing myself from the bed and finally went to the class.
I could feel everybody in the class was too bored and some already were missing and guess i was again sleepy because of the so called hot air-cond ( gosh it was too hot inside like in the oven because the air flow from the aircond was too slow and it was not enough to pump in cool air rapidly and fill the whole lecture hall ).Suddenly there was a phone call for the lecturer and he was shocked enough and able to wake us all up.Then he told about his student who was involved in a accident ( It was my Geotech tutor ).We thought it was just a normal accident. Then there was a sms for my malay friend stating she was dead.
All just happened in split seconds.Adding further to the horror...she was actually hit by an unscrupulous idiotic middle eastern man ( was a postgraduate student ) who beat the traffic light just right in-front of the campus main gate. All was saddened by the event and the next classes all were canceled upon our friends request. Some of us went to see her in the hospital but was unable to see her.I could see the accident scene with her crashed and broken helmet beside the road and her sneakers flown few meters apart. It was really horrible to see it.Whole campus later started to mourn for her by playing "verses from al-quran".
And this is the point i began to realise how short is our life.Today we were here and the next day we may be a history already! Even I couldn't believe that she was gone.I saw her doing her work on computer just on the previous evening.Things happened so fast and at some point it also reminds me one of the WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE's quote that we are all just players in a series. We are gone when our roleplays has finished....and also reminds me that life must be carry on forward eventhough our life encounters a major obstacle....:(

This was the accident scene!!! Managed to capture one picture at the traffic light.
